Kasey Petersen became the Clinical Director of STAR in April of 2016. Additionally, she continues to be a Clinical Supervisor at STAR for over 3 ½ years. She obtained a Bachelors Degree of Science (Psychology) at Winthrop University in 2007. She then began working at Chrysalis Autism Center, from 2008 to 2012. Later, she went onto complete the behavior analysis coursework at Florida Institute of Technology, and then sitting for the board exam. She received her certificate of becoming a BCaBA (board certified assistant behavior analyst) in 2010. She then went on to acquire a Masters Degree in Counseling, with a concentration in ABA at NOVA Southeastern University. She passed the board exam in January of 2016, now a qualified BCBA. Kasey has extensive experience in implementing ABA treatment in the areas of ADHD, potty training, Direct Instruction Programs (Reading Mastery, Handwriting Without Tears, etc.), Anxiety, ODD, ASD & other intellectual disabilities, and parent & staff training/coaching. Kasey has been involved in the field of ABA for over 10 years to date and can’t wait to continue to prosper within the field. She is a member of SCABA and APBA. Other than working with her clients and families, Kasey enjoys running, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and friends.
Jeff Marcino is a Clinical Psychologist who has been in private practice for over twelve years. Jeff holds a Doctorate and a Masters in Clinical Psychology. Jeff is certified in CBT, RLT, as well as Sexual Addiction. After acting as a clinical consultant for STAR, LLC since 2010, Jeff purchased this existing ABA company. In addition to his two other roles Jeff was nominated to serve as the President of the board for The Walk for Autism.
Dr. Steven Lopez is a member of our diagnostic team. He provides diagnostic services and medication management for the children we serve. Dr. Lopez completed his residency program in adult psychiatry at The Medical University of South Carolina in 2000 and completed his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry in 2001. He is Board Certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He has a special interest in childhood disorders, specifically autism.
